Your Mission

The Component Engineer role is to be a technical specialist for EEE component areas internally (at Beyond Gravity) and externally (suppliers). He/she supports product development and operations and acts as a core team member in projects with support from Project Lead Buyer. He/She ensures the well execution of task in line with stakeholder requirements.The Component Engineer conducts parts incoming inspections and supports on site EEE parts failure investigations and analysis

  • Good understanding of EEE component properties; can select appropriate components depending on the application; can work independently on most tasks.
  • Strong understanding of component selection and qualification processes to deliver in line with customer reuirements, cost, and demand; can handle complex tasks independently; Support in definition of new company standards.
  • Define component procurement specifications and incoming inspection instructions for EEE components to deliver in line with customer quality, cost, and demand.
  • Good understanding of EEE component analysis and test methods (DPA, CA, etc.). Know testing methods and select the appropriate standard. Able to interpret results.
  • Participate in obsolescence review boards. Communicate alerts actively. Follow process definition
  • Can manage simple supplier communications independently; can request quotes, interpret lead times and costs
  • Participate in NRBs (Non Conformance Review Board) according to the NC process. Actively propose technical solutions in his area of expertise. Supports corrective action and performs basic root cause analysis with guidance. Support FAI (First Article Inspection) and participe in the training of operators if required. Prevent NC occurence by continous on-site production support if required. Implement Lessons Learn. Signs most of dispositions and has the associated responsibilities.
  • Support during technical audit in his field of expertise
  • Develops basic automation scripts (e.g., Python, Excel VBA) to streamline modelling and post-processing. Improves existing tools and contributes to process efficiency.
    Report to technical lead the budget and milestone advancement. Raise awareness on risk and blocking points. Understanding budgets, cost awareness, and resource allocation.
  • Support in the creation of training material. Coach intern/students and junior engineer. Support onboarding with guidance.
  • Gathers and interprets simple data for insight. Contributes ideas in group brainstorming or innovation sessions. Understands basic research methods and development cycles. Learns from failures and applies lessons to small-scale tasks.
  • Evaluates evidences, identifies bias and make logical connections. Use structured method to solve complex problem based on heritage and own experience. Make technical key decisions. Weight technical challenges together with other business relevant input (e.g. cost, timeframe…)
  • Basic understanding for trade compliance and global export regulations in the relevant sector. Familiar with key terms: ITAR, EAR, EU Dual Use, embargoes. Knows when to seek support for compliance issues and supports export control manager with as-built and as-designed lists of components.

 


Your Story

 Must have:

  • M. Sc. Electrical Engineering/Engineering Physics or corresponding relevant level of education/experience
  • Basic understanding of electrical hardware design
  • Good communication skills in dialog and writing internally and externally
  • Able to plan and execute tasks independently
  • Professional in communication with both internal and external interfaces

Nice to have's:

  • Detailed understanding of the customer proposal process
  • Understanding of radiation effects on electronic equipment
  • Experience in component construction analysis
  • Collaborative and creative mindset
