Your Crew
You’ll be part of BG’s Spacecraft Mechatronics System Engineering team of 10 engineers, as well as our broader Zurich-based engineering department with its skilled design engineers, analysts, electrical engineers, test engineers, and materials and process engineers. We’re a multidisciplinary, intercultural, energetic and goal-oriented team, working every day to deliver the most competitive spacecraft products for the European and world-wide space markets, and to deliver the most aspiring space exploration technology to large ESA and NASA missions. Your Mission
- Be the technical responsible for one of our mechatronic spacecraft systems - from recurring products for large satellite constellations (such as solar array drives, antenna pointing mechanisms, or dampers) to new developments for state-of-the-art space exploration
- Lead a technical project team of highly skilled experts from analysis / testing / electrical engineering / design / materials and processes
- Work with the project team to assess customer needs, generate ideas, optimize solutions, and solve problems – all to create value for our customers by delivering on quality, time, and cost. This includes:
- Prepare component specifications and work with our suppliers
- Coordinate design and analysis activities; but also conduct engineering work yourself.
- Support production and test activities, and evaluate test results
- Establish and review complex technical documentation and data packs
- Support and negotiate with customers in regular technical meetings and reviews
Your Story
- You have a MSc or equivalent degree preferably in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
- At least 3 years of relevant job experience in mechatronics engineering for demanding applications such as aerospace, vacuum, scientific instruments, MedTech …
- Generalist: Used to work with equations as much as with people
- Hands-on mentality: You have previously turned designs into hardware, and have mastered production and test challenges along the way
- Operational drive: Proven ability to deliver efficiently in an industrial operations setting – with strong focus on cost, schedule, quality, and regulated processes and standards
- Able to work under temporary phases of high schedule pressure, while still establishing an atmosphere that fosters productivity and makes working fun
- In-depth knowledge of the following is an asset: Spacecraft components (especially motors, gears, bearings) and relevant standards, System Engineering Methods, data analysis, environmental testing
- Our working language is English. Knowledge of German is an asset
