Design Equipment Engineer

The Design Equipment Engineer is responsible for all Jigs, Tools, and Equipment in a specific area of Beyond Gravity USA; the responsibility covers all aspects of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.

 

Main Tasks:

  • Designs, develops, and implements various size jigs and tools to production with robust validation plans that ensure a successful acceptance.
  • Manage supplier proposed designs from concept to delivery, ensuring all aspects of design are covered. (Safety, Cost, Manufacturability, Ergonomics, Maintenance etc.)
  • Act as the Beyond Gravity USA, Jig & Tool process owner. Shaping the Jig & Tool process in conjunction with global teams to ensure standardized working practices.
  • Support and review all Jig & Tool improvement requests for Beyond Gravity USA, providing feedback and coaching to all functions.
  • Performs or manages modifications and reworks to existing tooling to continuously improve the tooling and product quality that is output.
  • Operate as the Beyond Gravity USA expert for Jigs & Tools providing specific support to projects during project review, NRB’s, or Kaizen events.
  • Manage the Beyond Gravity USA Jig & Tool control plan from design to operational acceptance, ensuring documentation and traceability are easily obtainable and clear to all stakeholders.
  • Identify Critical to Quality features for planned maintenance activities and ensure integration into the TPM system.
     

Requirements/Skill Set:

  • 5+ years’ experience preferably in a large, complex manufacturing industry
  • Strong understanding of Geometrical Dimensions & Tolerances (GD&T)
  • Skilled to take responsibility in complex project environment
  • Experience with CATIA or similar CAD software
  • Exhibits control and total accountability of their work area of defined projects
  • Willing to be part of a team and grow the facility's competencies together
  • Agile and able to calculate risks when decision making
  • Independent and confident in their ability to determine the correct action
     

Preferred Skill Set:

  • Experience with fabricating fixturing and manufacturing machined parts to specification
  • Master or bachelor’s degree in technical studies, preferably in mechanical or process engineering
  • CATIA v6 experience
  • Space or Aerospace experience
