Your Mission
The Senior Mechanical Engineer missions encompass expertise and enhancement of our cutting-edge technology.
He steers the engineer workforce, providing coaching and guidance on high complex problems and escalation. He contributes to the technical roadmap of the company.
• Lead engineering task without supervision within his dedicated field. Conduct and lead high complexity task without supervision. Establish sustainable solution to prevent recurrence of issues:
o Define analysis approaches to investigate mechanical design problems or verify solutions.
o Establish analysis methods and create mathematical models for static and dynamic FE analysis.
o Perform static and dynamic analysis.
o Perform F&DT analysis.
o Perform test predictions, test evaluations and correlations.
o Perform detailed stress and strength verification analysis.
• Supports in his engineering field during product development, production support, innovation, and project. Is the local technical authority in his field and first level of escalations.
• Proactively communicates and aligns cross-functionally with the adjacent engineering fields and department outside engineering such as operations, quality, procurement, and other teams.
• Supports processes and product continuous improvements to deliver in line with customer quality, cost, and demand. Propose market-oriented initiatives to improve existing products, technologies, and production processes.
• Writes and reviews technical documentation (e.g. Test plan, analysis reports…), project related deliverables and other specifications related to his field of work. Adapt to the product- and mission-specific requirements.
• Utilizes project management techniques / tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements. Support Technical Lead in progress reporting.
• Understands and complies with internal BPM.
• Work package / Task Manager. Owns technical, budget and schedule responsibility for fulfilment of tasks assigned by projects.
• Participate in NRBs (Non-Conformance Review Board) according to the NC process. Actively propose technical solutions in his field of activity. Secure measures for root cause analyses, corrective and preventive measures. Implement Lessons Learn.
• Represents his engineering field during negotiations and reviews with customers and suppliers or subcontractors.
• Onboarding of peer. Provide assistance in the ramping up of engineers.
• Co-work in the bidding team for proposal, quotations, concept work, developments and interdisciplinary collaboration in make-or-buy decisions (assess schedule and cost estimates as well as technical roadmap).
• Build-up and maintain relevant contact with external stakeholders.
• Provides information on new products, processes and technologies to the engineering directorates.
• Represents the company at key industrial events (e.g. fairs, keynotes at conferences…)
• Technical responsible in his field of work for the recruitment process. Identify and maintain key technical skills in his field within the department.
• Coach more junior engineers and external employees and review their work (own technical leadership function and ensure standardization within their field of activity).
Your Story
Must’s:
• University/ETH master’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace/aeronautical engineering.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in an aerospace business (or equivalent relevant experience) in the fields of:
o FE Analysis with MSC (NASTRAN), Altair (Hyperworks) and/or Abaqus&NX Siemens
o Detailed stress analysis.
o Mechanical engineering.
• Advanced knowledge in FE analysis with the solver NASTRAN, Optistruct and/or ABAQUS&NXSiemens to efficiently create FE models and perform analysis.
• Experience in test prediction and correlation of structures and components, static and dynamic.
• Advanced knowledge in analysis of composites (ESAComp), sandwich structures and lightweight materials
• Advanced knowledge in structures, mechanisms and antennas
• Advenced knowledge in static, dynamic and nonlinear analysis
• Advanced English language skills (reading, writing and speaking)
• Advenced knowledge in F&DT, ESACRACK&Nasgro (ESAFATIG is a plus)
Nice to have’s:
• Experience in analysis of Satellite structures, mechanisms, antennas and other launcher structures.
• Advanced knowledge in detailed stress analysis using aerospace methods.
• Advanced knowledge in mechanical lay-out of aerospace structures and components.
• Advanced knowledge in lightweight materials.
• Knowledge in shock, acoustic analysis and multibody (MSC Adams)
• Knowledge in Thermal (Siemens Simcenter; NX/TMG; ESATAN)
• Knowledge in magnetic (Ansys Workbench) and microvibration analysis.
• Knowledge in programming (Python; VBA; MATLAB; Fortran)
